Karaka graduates are setting the Singapore tracks alight this season with eight of 11 stakes races under their belt so far, with the remarkable eight-year-old Waikato (NZ) continuing the winning streak with victory in the S$350,000 Sgp-2 Queen Elizabeth II Cup (2000m) at Kranji last night.

New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale concluded today at Karaka with the broodmare session closing the three-day Sale.
With a smaller offering than 2011, in the final analysis 501 horses have sold for $5,029,850 at a combined average of $10,040, marginally up on last year’s average of $10,018. This reflects a clearance rate of 81% across the three days of selling with the median of $2,500, an increase of 4% on last year’s $2,400.

A steady day of trade at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale today saw the conclusion of the weanling session followed by a selection of mixed bloodstock.
The close of the weanling session realised an increase in both median and clearance on last year with the median up more than 5% to $4,000 while the clearance rate rose to 77%. With 351 weanlings offered for sale a total of 248 were sold for $2,970,300 and an average of $11,977.

Stablemates El Dorado Sun and Chandelier looked ready for their weekend assignments when turning in strong gallops at Byerley Park this morning. El Dorado Sun (Cave) galloped solo over 800m in 49, the 600m in 35.9, excellent work by the son of Captain Rio. He runs in the 3YO 1200m at Te Rapa and looks fit and bright.

El Dorado Sun (Innes) and Red Dakota (McGinty) were timed to gallop 1000m in 1.03.5, Tango Terrific (Tomes) 1000m in 1.10, Paparimu (Tomes) 1200m in 1.22 and Sir Ram (Cherry) 1000m at three-quarter pace in 1.14. Loviste half-paced 1200m.
